Begin in left hanmi with the jo held horizontally (left hand in middle of jo and right hand at the base). Draw the jo back over your head as you slide back to the right side of the line-of-attack. The forward end of the jo will rest in your left forefinger/thumb cleft. Your weight will be well back on your right foot.
As you start to swing the jo around with your right wrist, step forwards with your right foot, swinging the jo in a downwards arc at The jo will be caught with your left hand (by your left hip) as the jo finishes its downwards arc.
