With OCT, images in cross-section are obtained. Our system, has a penetration depth into skin of approximately 1 mm and the resolution is limited to approximately 15 mm. The system has been specially designed. It uses a wavelength of 1310 nm. On the other hand, CLSM measures images parallel to the skin surface and has a very high resolution (1 mm laterally, 5 mm axially). Even individual cells are visible. CSLM image were measured with a modified Vivasope1000, Lucid Inc.
