The Oregon Medical Laser Center (OMLC) originated around 1990 as a program specializing in Biomedical Optics and Medical Lasers. The OMLC was a joint program sponsored by
Eventually, OGI merged with OHSU, becoming the engineering school for a new health-oriented university (Oregon Health & Science University) with medicine, dentistry and nursing schools. The research at PStV evolved toward a tissue engineering laboratory. But the OMLC at OHSU continued as a website resource for the Biomedical Optics community.
Today, the OMLC website at OHSU provides data bases, software, articles and free web-based tutorials on Biomedical Optics, maintained by Scott Prahl and Steve Jacques.
The Biomedical Optics Program was located in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the School of Science and Engineering, Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon, USA, and provides a MS and PhD curriculum in Biomedical Optics, with the following faculty:
